Wow - this week went by fast and I'm so happy it's Friday.
I'd like to say I'll catch my breath this weekend,
but doesn't it seem that weekends pass by in double time?
Anyway - it's Friday, and time for 5 random things.

Anyway - it's Friday, and time for 5 random things.
1) I found these pretty blossoms hanging over my driveway, and they have a beautiful sweet fragrance. I have no clue what they are, but they're welcome to hang out at my house anytime.
2) Today is Chicago-daughter's birthday. If anyone had told me 28 years ago that my little baby girl was going to be a first-grade teacher in Chicago, I would have thought -
wait.....what?
(I guess it's hard to imagine them flying so far from the nest)

3) I am pondering - what happened to summer?
4) My next door neighbors have two bichon frise puppies - and while I'm more of a labrador retriever in a pickup sort of gal, I have to admit - those two little puff balls are pretty darned cute!

5) I stayed home last weekend because Greg was away on a business trip - and I missed
the Strolling of the Heifers. Yep, for real!
No way I'm missing it again next year -
I am gonna go see me some strolling cows!
That's it for me this week.
Have a great weekend!! :-)
- yeah, I know, I like enthusiastic punctuation...

ReplyDeleteI've been having major puppy fever lately so after reading this post I can officially diagnmose myself with high-grade puppy fever LOL
ReplyDeleteI don't know what these blooms are, but I guess it really doesn't matter -- they are so pretty.
ReplyDeleteAnd although I love my 2 GSDs, I would love to have a little puffball to sit on my lap. Don't tell the hubs!
Thanks for sharing again Karen. I always enjoy your R5F. xo
Hi Karen! I always enjoy your random 5! We have a bichon that we rescued from a shelter, and I must say, there is a certain cuteness about that breed that is very endearing! Three cheers for enthusiastic punctuation!!! Twyla
ReplyDeletePretty flowers! You'll have to find out what they are! Happy birthday to your daughter! And I'm glad someone else is crazy enough to get two puppies at one time - lol. Enjoy your weekend - we need to find a way to slow them down!!

ReplyDeleteSorry for that first message, I don't know how it went away just like that!!! The Heifer stroll looks like great fun! Could your flower be a Dogwood? and Happy 28th to your daughter, Chicago, wow, has she met OW? Since owning the Yorkie I've kind of fallen for little dogs as well as larger dogs, BF are little packages of cute.
ReplyDeleteThat Heifer Parade looks like a hoot!! No idea about the flower, but I enjoy it just the same! (Notice the !'s) :-)
ReplyDeleteStrolling cows? Heck yeah!! Happy Birthday to your daughter.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the dogs, my sister has a bichon frise and it's cute and all, but I'm a lab lady ;)
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend Karen.
Puff ball dogs are cute, but big dogs rock! Great list today!!
ReplyDeleteStrolling cows -- had me giggling ... I wouldn't miss it either! Happy birthday to your daughter. Amazing how quickly time passes! the flower is lovely and I have no idea what it is. I have already had enough of summer. I'd be glad to send you some. Do those puff balls yip a lot?!!! Great 5 today. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteWow! You have got the sidebar upgrades done. I am impressed!! Happy Birthday to your daughter :) The one thing I can say about Bichon's (my mom has one) is that they are yappy. I will take my mostly quiet golden retrievers any day.
ReplyDeletei'm totally in agreement w/ #4. big dogs for me!
ReplyDeletewould love to see strolling heifers!
I too like big dogs. I call the small ones cat wanna bees :)
ReplyDeleteWe have plenty of summer here. I will start blowing north and see if I can send some your way!
Karen, I'd be cutting some of those blossoms for my kitchen. I've always been a big dog person, but as I get older, the smaller ones look more manageable (plus seem to shed less). Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI would LOVE to seebthe Strolling of the Heifers! What fun! :D
ReplyDeleteBichons are super adorable! One of our neighbors has a two year old. Awesome, happy personality.
Absolutely beautiful flowers and fragrance to welcome, congrats to your daughter! Summer is torturing here… glad it was mild out there. Have a great weekend Karen :)
ReplyDeleteI wanna see the strolling cows! That would be so cute. Not sure what those flowers are, but they are really lovely!
ReplyDeleteHi Karen That is a lovely bloom. Have a great weekend. Margaret
ReplyDeleteLovely, lovely flowers Karen. It's a mock jasmine/mock orange, botanical name is Philadelphus. I completely sympathize with your feelings regarding your daughter. I remember thinking when Chloe was born that the year she enters grade one, my son Jonathan will be graduating grade 12. Guess what? Chloe is 21 and will graduate university with her bachelor's in one year! Where has the time gone? I don't know. Anyway, lovely visiting with you again and have a fantastic weekend. :)
ReplyDeleteThe flowers in your driveway are very pretty! I'm also more to labradors and retrievers, but a puppy is always a puppy :-) Congratulations on your daughter's education / work, Karen!
ReplyDeleteNina
I don't know what they are either ... but they are beautiful! Oh!I see that Veronica has told us they are mock orange. I have heard of those, we have them around here. Loved your Random 5.
ReplyDeleteHey, I have a Chicago daughter too. Coming from Alberta ,Canada is a bit of a stretch.
ReplyDeleteYou know you can complain about your weekends but I don't get weekends. I'm retired all the time. Retirement goes fast too.
Those really are lovely flowers. Not familiar with Mock Orange.
ReplyDeleteIf you're having trouble finding summer, come on down to Texas. Step outside for 1 minute. You will know where it went to. Sweat. More sweat. Gladly send a little bit of summer up to ya'! (and I like enthusiastic punctuation, too!)
ReplyDeleteLove your post, Karen. Glad you found out what was blossoming and smelling so good. If you are ever in Chicago visiting your lovely daughter and you feel like going on a photo shoot and a meet-up, I would love to meet you. I do know where there are some great mid-west barns.
ReplyDeleteI'm here as the weekend is ending but I hope you had a good one!
ReplyDeleteA very Belated Happy Birthday to your daughter! Mine is about three years older than yours. I don't know where the time has gone. :)
Your flower shot is gorgeous!
beautiful flower...
ReplyDeletethanks
I don't know what those blooms are but, wild, free, no care and fragrant = pure happiness!!
ReplyDeleteI am an eager punctuator as well!!
I hope you had an awesome weekend, happy Father's Day to mr. Karen!!

ReplyDeleteI wonder if my dad thinks the same way about me...flying far from the nest. I'm so impressed how you end up 'away' most weekends. It takes me forever to pack...even back when it was just me! :)
ReplyDeleteYum for the sticky bun and oh my to your talent and great eye for photography!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
Sweet Hugs-
Jemma
