Yipee - it's Friday and time for a little randomness.
Hey! Whatchu lookin' at?! |
1) A few weeks ago I bought my very first bird feeder.
Oh yeah, now we're the birdy party house!
2) I'm adding a bird bath this weekend
because - you know - I kind of want to be the hostess with the mostest.
More on that little adventure another time...
3) I'd really like to add a peanut feeder, but I should probably wait until the fall when the bears go into hibernation.
I really don't want to be the bear party house.

4) And moving on,
I've been testing both Feedly and Bloglovin. So far Feedly is winning, but they're both pretty buggy on an iPad.

- or -
maybe it's just me...
5) Next week is the 4th of July - can you believe it?
I am so looking forward to seeing some very special people!

I am wishing you a wonderful weekend!
Beautiful photo, Karen. Hope you have a good day and a very nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteI do have bird feeders and a bowl of water for bird... but I only see crows taking bath in it. I have already shifted to bloglovin and gonna really miss my favorite G Reader.
ReplyDeleteI will let the birds know to stop by your place ... I bet it is gorgeous rest stop for a moment or two. have a great weekend. ( :
ReplyDeleteI know nothing of Freely ... only Bloglovin ... it is definitely different. something new to learn. ha. ha!!
If I could remember to fill my bird feeder my birds would be so much happier. I do pretty good with the bird bath though. Hey, at least the birds are clean if not fed :) Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteI love yellow finches so cute and so happy you now have the birds over at dinnertime:)
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty picture that made with yellow birds.....love the color of the bird feeder. You definitely will be the bird hot spot!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to next week, myself. I took off all week!!! Yippee!!! Not too sure if we're going to have fireworks or not since it's already pretty darn dry! Bummer!
Hope your yard will be full of our little feathered friends!

ReplyDeleteGreat shot I am looking forward to seeing the bird shots that will come from this little purchase but I don't want to see any Bear shots either near your house. yikes. It is Canada Day Weekend here and I am looking forward to spending it with friends or just My Hero. Happy 4th of July when it comes:) B
ReplyDeleteHi Love the yellow birds. I am sure they will visit you often now that you are feeding them. I am glad you got a bird bath as clean drinking water is essential for birds just as much as food and of course they love get a bath now and then to clean up. Have a great weekend. Margaret
ReplyDeleteThis looks like the same bird feeder I bought last fall. After the squirrels broke my bird feeder again I decided to buy a new one. I resented paying the price for it (sometime I'm cheap) but I was glad I did. It saved me a fortune in bird seed. It's squirrel proof! I have speciaL peanut feeder for squirrels. You can see it here.
ReplyDeleteI still need to test out Feedly. I love the goldfinch picture!!
ReplyDeleteNice view of your colourful Goldfinches. I'm sure there will be plenty more visitors once you have provided for all their needs.
ReplyDeleteYou are going to love all the free entertainment the bird world is going to provide!
ReplyDeleteYour first bird feeder? How is that possible. ;)
ReplyDeletelove the picture of the goldfinch. I don't see many in my yard. Guess I should keep seeds out for them that they like.
ReplyDeleteYou are right - bloglovin is a little buggy sometimes on the iPad. The worst is when it won't let me comment, but it seems to be getting better.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend :-)
Nice feeder, I can't believe it's the 4th next week either, my husband and I were just talking about it.
ReplyDeleteWhere did June go? Crazy.
ReplyDeleteI often think a bird house and/or feeder would be fun. We have a birdie that sings outside our bedroom window. He likes to start just before sun up.
Have a wonderful weekend, Karen.
Hm.. no teddy bears hanging out at your house? Lol. I can see why you don't want to host them!
ReplyDeleteAnd i can't believe it's almost the Fourth. The months are flying! Have a great weekend, Karen!
gorgeous bird shot, we don't have Bears only neighbourhood cats however this is enough to put a damper on B/baths.
ReplyDeleteI can't make up my mind, but right now am just using the reader that is on blogger on my main page. Guess I will have to make a decision before long or I will lose all my links.
ReplyDeleteyay for feeders and bird baths! and i use feedly. :)
ReplyDeleteBe careful now. Once your start feeding and watching this can become an out of control hobby with binoculars and trips etc... I know. :)
ReplyDeleteoh no, welcome to the other side ;)
ReplyDeletewill you be involved in bird picture competitions!?!?
and i love the new header!!!
ReplyDeleteFun 'randomness'! Love your new header, too.
ReplyDeleteI really want a bird feeder and bird bath in my yard! My grandma has a bird bath that she is wanting to give to me but it's made out of concrete and crazy heavy so I have no idea how we'll get it home. I'll need a team of lots of strong men to lift that thing!
ReplyDeleteOh, I didn't know bears like peanuts. See what you can learn blogging? I bet you'll love the new feeder and for sure add a bird bath. Birds LOVE them.
ReplyDeleteIt's quite a thrill the first time you set up a feeder and the birds come in. You're hooked.
ReplyDeleteDo you know you are starting a new addiction? Haha but what a fun addiction. You are going to love watching them and all their antics.....
ReplyDeleteGreat photo at your new feeder! We need to put up one. Great way to serve the birds and be able to watch them. The deer show up in our yard quite often--it's the Barbour Buffet to them, apparently. :-) Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteHey party girl! Loving how enthusiastic you are about feeding the little things. I have the same bear apprehensions living in Vancouver, but when I'm living in England there aren't any bears and so we put almost everything on the bird table,(including all the leftovers...our birds are a bit greedy over there...lol) Have a lovely weekend and I'll see you soon. :)
ReplyDeleteThese are fun! I like Bloglovin but I plan to try Feedly. Have fun with all the birds this summer!
ReplyDeleteGreat feeder pic, Karen. I always liked VT over the 4th - the small town parades are the best. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteLovely photo, and great Random 5! Hope you enjoy your bird feeder and bird bath!
ReplyDeletewow, lucky you....put out a feeder and instantly attract these finches!!
ReplyDeletelol "the bear party house" :D
ReplyDeleteThat's funny - the 'birdy party house' ! Can we expect some birdy party photos, too? I've attracted some bears in my time - glad I have good dogs! Although the bears were kind of exciting to see! Hope you have a fun 4th! xo
ReplyDeleteOur bird party house is closed temporarily for the season as the most unwelcome visitors (starlings, grackles, blackbirds) do not share well and would hog all the seeds. No worries about being a bear party house here. ENjoy your 4th.
ReplyDeleteGREAT post Karen, and know you must be looking forward to a long weekend away. Wise thoughts on the peanuts. Have you seen bears at your place? There are some around our cabin, but we have never seen one on our land. Hope not to also. Have a wonderful 4th and enjoy those cute birds. So fun watching them take a bath after they have a full stomach!
ReplyDeleteOh free bird seed ...random birds will be all a flutter at your place. Gorgeous gold finch, very cute capture !
ReplyDeleteThis photo is a sure shot and formidable.
ReplyDeleteI really like the composition,
excellent color and texture. hug
lol at 2 heheheee
ReplyDeleteHappy Independence Day!
