Our weekend was blissfully quiet and uneventful
and I enjoyed my week of 200 mm more than I expected to.
Weston, Vermont is one of my favorite towns to visit -
beautiful farmland and charming homes
(not to mention The Vermont Country Store).
A few weeks back I photographed this barn using my nifty fifty,
and when I realized it would require a lot of cropping - I scrapped the photos.

and when I realized it would require a lot of cropping - I scrapped the photos.
One of a cluster of buildings - sitting quite a ways back from the road.
I was very surprised by how close it appeared at 200 mm- it completely fills the frame.
These little outbuildings are also part of the cluster.
And then, across the street -
on a farmhouse porch attached to the barn,
a pair of farmers relaxing on a beautiful sunny day in the mountains of Vermont.
I hope you all had a chance to find a little peace last weekend, also.

I love that last photo! The perspective of the shot is really interesting. Perfect setting for a photo!
ReplyDeleteI can understand why the porch was added!.....:)JP
ReplyDeletewow, love the barn w/ residence? attached. so cool! love the silo, too!
ReplyDeleteOh I am with Our Neck of the Woods that last one is great I would live in that.
ReplyDeleteI also love all of them. Very cool. B
Love that you captured the farmers on the porch...and that red barn is sigh...wonderful!!
ReplyDeletethe love american flag one - so great. nice selections this week. ( :
ReplyDeleteIt always amazes me that no matter what kind of repair a barn or farmhouse is in, it can never be ugly. In fact, just the opposite. It's almost as if the more it ages, the better it gets...kind of like wine! :-)
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love the human element in the 3rd image. The body language is fantastic! xo
ReplyDeleteVery picturesque! I wouldn't think any of these barns are actually used.
ReplyDeleteI love the red barn and the one with the guys standing on the porch...Do you think that might have been a barn made into a house? Just thinking......
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a wonderful relaxing weekend...You certainly got some great shots...
Oh man, do I love that last barn! How cool is that!
ReplyDeleteLove that they painted the silo the same as the barn in the first photo. Also like the farmers on the porch.
ReplyDeleteI used to get a catalog from the Vermont Country Store! Hope you had fun.
ReplyDeleteOf all the places you've taken us this is probably my all time favorite!
ReplyDeleteI love the looks of this place. That little grouping of buildings with the flag is an idyllic rural scene. Be still my country heart. :)
Your composition on barn and cluster of buildings are simple superb! Both the barn attached to spherical dome and farmhouse is quite picturesque. I enjoyed your photography Karen :)
ReplyDeleteAll of these buildings are wonderful. Isn't it great to be able to gain a closer view. I most often use my fixed lens super zoom so as the have the whole range of focal lengths available, leaving my DSLR at home.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous barns. I might find 200mm a big challenge. So good for you.
ReplyDeletethese are super...love that farmhouse porch attached!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness that farmhouse attached to the barn is the most unique thing I've ever seen!!
ReplyDeleteNever saw one like it. Nice though and the first photo..wonderful paint job on the silo too..most are just metal here and nothing much to look at. Nice places and wonderful shots!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing them
Such a beautiful place! I think I would like Weston, too! We have a Weston, MO. A historical old town where we like to visit. Have a nice day! Twyla

Awesome shots- I really like that last one.
ReplyDeleteLove them all but the traditional first one is my favorite:)
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely setting and interesting barns. Are the first and last photos of barns turned into dwellings?
ReplyDeleteYou've captured VT in the spring. I love Weston too.
ReplyDeleteThese barns looks like they could easily be lovely homes instead of barns.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful barn and setting! I think I'd like to spend a little time on that porch.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE those out buildings. I just live in the WRONG state! If I move to Vermont, I'll have you to thank. It's so gorgeous there!
