My thoughts and prayers go out to all the runners, helpers, observers and family - anyone affected in any way by the attack at the Boston Marathon. The mood here today is somber as we try to make sense of the violence that took place at this event that does so much good for so many.
This week - all 85 mm - resulted in barn segments.
I was much too close to this barn for my lens setting.

Barn side
Barn foundation - I like the stones down a the bottom right.
This barn sits on Main Street in Jamaica Vermont, and is for sale - along with a charming little house.
I dream of opening some sort of shop in it, and using the barn as a workshop.
Sigh
I took this photo a couple months ago before I started this nonsense
errr, I mean extremely valuable creative exercise...
It's a cutie.
On another note, I was extremely surprised while catching up on my blog reading last weekend to find that one of my barn photos had been featured as a Friday Find on Laurel's blog The North End Loft.
Laurel is extremely creative and always has something fun and crafty going on in her Idaho home.
If you've never visited her blog, click on over - its a fun place to be!
I particularly love her recently redecorated craft room.
I hope you have a wonderful day!

your segments show off the beauty of that weathered wood!
ReplyDeleteThe barn looks pretty! Thanks for taking around this charming one. The barns never cease to amaze me, after I was introduced through blogging.
ReplyDeleteHope there wasn't anything serious happen to those participated in Marathon
Congrats on your barn photo being featured!! It is well-deserved my friend :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on that feature - i will go check her blog out right away. so fun! ( :
ReplyDeletei love the stone on this one. too cool. i wonder why they did not use more. it has such character. enjoy the week. ( :
Great barn, Karen. I like the weathered wood that still has some red in it.
ReplyDeleteI have been wondering if you were anywhere near where the bomb went off. Such a tragedy.
I have been thinking about you and hoping that you were not close to the violence that occurred in Boston....Glad to hear you are OK....
ReplyDeleteThis a lovely old barn; I love the red still in the wood.....All the snow just enhances the image...
This is a great find and whoever buys this barn is definitely lucky! Barns always have a huge place in my heart and I’m also wishing that one day, I’ll be able to own one and make the most out of it. Anyway, this really deserves to be featured and looking forward to see more. =)

That is a really cool barn! I love the color and distressed texture of the wood. And congrats on your feature!
ReplyDeleteGood Luck with your dream of opening a shop in a pretty barn! Congrats on Last Week's blog feature. That is fun.

I echo your sentiments on the events in your lovely and strong city. (Birthplace of my grandparents)
ReplyDeleteI love your barn. It's very special. So nice to see you featured Laurel's blog. xoxo
Oh I love that old red wood that would make a great place for you to create. Great shots. B
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the barn photo. What a lovely dream (maybe someday something more?) about your red barn. How are you liking Pic-Process? I am a bit behind, on day 3 yet, but there are so many videos it is hard to keep up.
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love that beautiful weathered red wood on the barn. Just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThe details are beautiful too and I love all the photos!
ReplyDeleteIt definitely is a cutie! I'm loving the weathered wood.
ReplyDeleteInteresting that the boards are laid up & down ... barns in our area have the boards laid horizontal.
ReplyDeleteYesterdays bombing certainly struck devastation and fear. For you being there it is all the more immediate.
ReplyDeleteNow I know you've got rules on your photos, but I really like the last photo of the barn.
I love it! I think you really need to purchase it. :)
ReplyDeletei'd love to open some kind of shot/business in an old updated barn... maybe sell candles or something. all the wood is just so beautiful. lovin the stonework on the side there, too.
ReplyDeletethanks for joining
I like the shot of just the top of the barn a lot. I'm finding lately I like seeing parts and not wholes of things. My own experiment I guess. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the shadows on your older shot.
A barn shop or studio is a dream for me too. When we looked at our current home we had looked at a little cabin with a barn. The little house would have been just too small.
Heading over to check out Laurel's blog...
I always like looking at barn board texture.
ReplyDeleteIt truly is a wonderful barn. I love the stone foundations. We just don't have barns like that "down under".
ReplyDeleteI love that barn and my fav shot is the third one down! <3
ReplyDeleteit sure is a cutie....love that last image, perfection!!
ReplyDeleteThese are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI especially love the last photograph.
Beautiful light and shadows.
Wonderful barn photography ~ very creative and well done ^_^
ReplyDeleteLove this sweet barn A LOT!
ReplyDeleteMy husband enjoys incorporating this style into his building.. we have a small "barn" somewhat similar, only modern with electricity & insulation.
Hah! I LOVE surprises, Karen. How nice! Thank you! I also love seeing your beautiful barn photographs getting the attention and praise they deserve in your comments. Makes me happy!
ReplyDeleteSuch a wonderful barn! The first and last photos are my favorite!
ReplyDeleteThat is a fabulous barn. I love multiple shots, close up and entirety. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for stopping by my blog this week. :-)
