barn charm - blame it on march

Here we are - March - my least favorite month.
In my little corner of the world, March is mostly chilly gray gloom.
Winter fun is coming to an end, Spring is still weeks away…
Sigh
I had some great plans -
more barn photos, revisiting a one-room school houses for a couple extra shots, finding that woodpecker up on the mountain behind our house, taking this old body back to the gym…

But then -
My trusty Rebel spent the entire weekend in its camera bag.
Wow - that's never happened before.
I blame it on March.

So - my walk this week took place on a pair of cross country skis.
Fortunately, I remembered to tuck my point-and-shoot in my pocket.
This pretty farm sits across the street from the trails.

Then -after more than my fair share of slipping and falling -
(Seriously - strap a couple wooden planks on my feet and I just can't seem to stay upright )
this little barn provided the perfect excuse to pause for a moment.

So - the gym?
Yeah, bag packed, gym clothes laid out, work clothes organized, early alarm set
 - wait, no - not set - I shut it off - oops.
Yep - I'm blaming that one on March, too.
Oh well, the gym will be there tomorrow morning - and so will I

What is March like in your corner of the world?
Do you have any favorite (or least favorite) months?

  1. Love that first barn picture; snow always enhances a barn......

You could count your walk, or the time on snow shoes as your gym time; hey I am trying to help here...ahahaha

March can be pretty nice in NC but you never know if it's going to be cool or warm making it hard to dress..Plus we always have lots of flowers poping up and that is always exciting....

  3. I don't care for March either...it seems like spring should be here ALREADY and it just isn't! It is difficult to be patient these last dreary days of winter.

  5. Eventho it is my birthday month, it is not my favorite month of the year....cold, grey, boring. So I am feeling your pain too. Good for you for getting out with those cross-country skies...at least you got some exercise. Standing in front of my window and watching the snow is my exercise for the day.

  7. March is usually a transition month here. February is so hard to get through, then in March we at least have some warmer days. But so far March hasn't been nice to us! Cold, wet, and gloomy. Ugh.

  8. The barn in the first photo is pretty. Good for you getting out on the skis. I haven't done any exercise all winter. I am not liking March either. It snowed here again yesterday and today. My favorite month is October when all the trees are in color.

  13. March is rainy and then mud season here and lately both have been happening at the same time. At least some snow would be prettier to look out (for awhile).

  15. Well March is my birthday and I just got an amazing new bag for camera gear , so can't hate it too much, but have to agree I am ready for spring, and although in texas, it is nearly here, It still feels like a ways off. Love your shot of the barn and so fun to cross country ski! Thanks so much for stopping by my blog too, and have a great week!

  16. Beautiful scenes but oh so cold. No wonder you're having trouble getting up early!

  17. I have the same challenges on skis. Lovely barns! I started going to a personal trainer at the end of January, best thing and most challenging thing I have done in a while. I am going because I struggle with back and hip problems and my husband and I are doing a two week road trip to Montana this summer in a tent. Going to need a strong body for that.

  18. Love that red popping out in the first shot- I'm glad it's March, but I do wish we had had more rain..even snow would have helped. We're still in drought mode down here.

  20. March is unpredictable here in Missouri. Last year March was springtime, this year it is bone chilling wind and icey cold. I am dreaming of spring. Your picture is beautiful. Have a nice day! Twyla

  21. Pretty little red barn. I'm having the some problem with my morning walks as you are with the gym..... no motivation. But, once it starts getting warmer, that will (hopefully) change!

  22. lol....I wouldn't be able to stay upright either. I also would be hitting that snooze bar...but that has gotten me to where I am today, so you better heed my warning and get up and go to the gym before you end up looking like me! Nice barns....and my favorite month is April. It's not hot yet here and the grass is green and we have birds in the trees and butterflies everywhere and it's just a promise of something good coming...and then summer gets here and I know Spring breaks a lot of promises every year!!!

  23. haha you always make me laugh....nice photos of your walk...i think walking in skiis is probably better exercise than the gym anyway....i think march here is pretty exciting...signs of spring pop up...well except for today, we have snow, blah! but this weekend is daylight savings right? i love that!

  24. I'm looking for spring, I see daylily's popping through the earth, and I woke up to an inch of snow. March is unpredictable at best. My favorite part of March is the spring skies that will soon (hopefully) begin showing up with big puffy clouds.
I think it's easy in the dull drab days to put things off.
My rebel and I spent a few minutes in my own backyard this morning. She too needed some fresh air out of her bag. :)
    Have a good week!
    Love the barn shot!
