1) My week of all 50 mm is coming to an end. I was afraid this challenge would be limiting, but I'm actually liking it so far. This week I learned the importance of moving around (yep - with my feet) and choosing different angles when feeling limited by the focal length. Up on deck - 18 mm.
2) Also on tap for next week Kim Klassen's Picture Pro-cess for Elements 11 course. I'm pretty exciting to learn some of the ins and outs of this program.
3) I have a love/hate relationship with social media. I love blogging and Pinterest and - well - let's just say I'm not overly fond of Facebook. I closed my account (gasp!) a few months ago and have yet to miss it.
4) I finished my granny square blanket. Newbie effort - for sure - but I'm pretty happy with it. And now, I'm needing a new project - time for a visit to the yarn shop.
5) Ummm - there's no number 5 - so I'll just wish a happy Easter to all who celebrate it, and to everyone - a wonderful weekend!
really like the colors you chose for your granny square afghan. very nice! :)
ReplyDeletehappy easter to you and yours, karen!
I would say your nifty fifty week was a grand success...love that barn photo, the composition is perfect. Lovely blanket, never did get into knitting or crocheting...too old to learn. I will be joining you in Kim's Elements Class next week. I have installed Elements 11 but have not touched it yet. See you in class!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful afghan, reminds me of my Grandma. It will be wonderful for an Easter Sunday nap!
ReplyDeleteI love that snowy photo! So pretty! Your granny square blanket looks so cute. It's funny because my grandma just gave me a granny square blanket a couple days ago that her aunt had made many years ago. Mine has more of a funky 70s vibe :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked learning the 50mm experience. The red barn in the snow is beautiful! And so is your afghan.
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter.
Your barn photo is lovely. Well done on your granny squares -- very pretty. Enjoy Kim's class. Happy Spring and Happy Easter!

Wonderful photo of the barn! I love the fresh look of your Granny Squares. I am still on facebook and will probably remain. It's a good way for me to keep in touch with my relatives who live 700 miles away. But sometimes...I just want to shut it off forever. I hear you!
ReplyDeleteYou ARE an Artist! Your granny square blanket looks perfect - and you suggest it's a new skill . . wow -
ReplyDeleteAND - you have to know your photographs are truly remarkable.

Happy Five Day!

Love the barn photo and you do such beautiful work on the afghan. Easter blessings to you.
ReplyDeleteOh, so love the red barn in the white snow! Your afghan is very nice - I love the colors! Facebook. Yes, love-hate. I stay on it to keep in touch with relatives back East and my own children. I do find people's rants quite amusing, though. I hope you have a Lovely Easter! xoxo
ReplyDeleteGreat job on your granny squares!! It looks great on the bed. Happy Easter...:)JP

ReplyDeleteAnd I never had a Facebook...don't want one either. We ARE rebels!
Well, Happy Easter to you. Your one hint went ting ting in my brain and it connected a few simple things together, thanks.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photo of the barn, and the afghan is beautiful. It doesn't look like a newbie effort! I'm still on FB, but I don't visit everyday. Not too fond of it either. Happy Easter to you and yours!
ReplyDeleteWonderful granny squares! I don't like Facebook either!
ReplyDeleteI love my 50mm and use it alot. You did so well with yours this week Karen!
ReplyDeleteLove, love your quilt. The colors are so cheery. Well done! xo
The more I used my fixed focal length lenses, the more I like them. The 50mm and my 60mm macro are used a lot now. I am taking Kim's picture process too, but CS6. I have had the program since last fall and have only tapped into a small amount of its potential. Great job on the Granny Square blanket.
ReplyDeletefun five!! i closed my fb once, ended up missing it for all the right reasons and reopened it!!
ReplyDeletelove the colors of the granny square blanket, it's just beautiful!!
Wow! The blanket work is impressive. I’m also in Facebook, but never been active there like blogging. I just use it for wishing and keep in touch with friends.
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter Karen :) Enjoy the weekend
I wish I could get the hang of crochet. You made a nice blanket with such pretty colors and it looks so neat and just perfect.
ReplyDeleteI used to be on facebook but closed it up as soon as I started. I would rather just blog
Love your site.
Happy Easter
betsy
Your barn shots are awesome and I love the colors in you granny squares. Happy Easter - it is beginning to feel more like Spring:)
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter to you, Karen!
ReplyDeleteI love your first picture and hope you enjoy your KK Class.
I love blogging and Face Book. I like Face Book to get blog feeds and updates. I have been pinning a few things here and there, but don't get the thrill from Pinterest that some people do. Part of my issue is I have made several viral Pinned Recipes and they were NOT very tasty. Kind of makes me leery.
I think you can definitely count your week with your 50 a huge success....I am thinking about taking up the challenge as well and I am looking forward to joining you in Kim's Elements 11 class....
ReplyDeleteYour blanket is beautiful; I love to crochet but lately I have been spending more time knitting....
I have your Easter has been a blessed one...
Hope that your Easter weekend was a good one, Karen, as was ours celebrating in RI with the grandkids. I agree with your comments about blogging and Facebook, never tried Pinterest. Working with a fixed focal length is somewhat of a challenge. Glad you enjoyed doing it with the 50mm. Just wondering how close you are to Nashua, NH as we will be there this coming week checking out places for our planned relocation.
ReplyDeleteI should probably close my FB account since I use it WAY too much :) I hope you had a great Easter!
