londonderry barn

Once again, the weekend nearly got away from me.
We had company at Away this weekend and enjoyed a little snowshoeing.
I was afraid I'd have to dig into my archives for another barn,
when I spied this one coming home from the Vermont Country Store.

I think our guests are getting used to these little side trips, scouting for barns.
It could be worse - right?

Another charming barn with natural wood siding.
I'm wondering why so few barns in Vermont are painted.

But then, I like the way these barns blend into the landscape.

  2. Those frugal New Englanders - if you don't paint you don't need to repaint! I like the setting for the barn.

  7. I think your houseguests are getting a very personal tour. :)
I love the natural wood and I'm sure the weather is so harsh on paint that you'd be repainting every summer so au natural seems logical.
That last shot is postcard perfect!!!

  17. Wonderful photos!! You're fortunate to live in a place with so many lovely barns. Here we have very few and I have to build my archives whenever we travel. Fortunately I have a very cooperative hubby, not to mention everyone we stay with who gets drug along on a barn tour.

  18. It's so unusual to see natural wood siding on a barn. It's a change from the gray barnboard.
