away for the weekend: morning awakening

morning awakening

So - vacations are made for sleeping in
- unless -
you happen to be running an impromptu early morning shuttle for wayward-daughter-hikers...

But then - one morning after an early morning drop-off,
I managed to come out of my sleepy stupor to notice
Hmmmm - the world looks different in the morning.
Yeah - I'm really not a morning person...
(although - I'm normally up early preparing for work - ummm, not the same thing)

So - I managed to ignore my instinct to rush towards my nearest caffeine source,
and pulled out my trust Rebel -

and watched

as the Vermont countryside

slowly awoke

to greet what turned into

a most beautiful day.

And then - I drove home and made myself a pot of coffee
- where I caffeinated myself, gazing at the mountains from my deck
and marveled at how wonderful morning can be.

  3. I am an unabashed lover of all things morning. And you are right, everything really DOES look and feel different in the mornings. It's my favorite time of day. I am up at 5:45 every day through the week, and 7am on weekends. I hate sleeping longer because I don't like to miss out on mornings :-)

  8. Gorgeous images! I love the old barn. There's nothing like the morning and it's light, but I rarely take advantage of it! Maybe I need to change that!

  12. lovely beautiful photos, gorgeous country; my Dad woke at 4 am daily when I asked why he told me that the quiet and softness of a new day was too beautiful to miss, I would discover that he was right. :-)

  23. And this is why I so enjoy early mornings...the peacefulness, but then I don't need to rush them and hurry off to work. Enjoyed the scenes, Karen, and seems you did as well.

  26. Oh how beautiful! There was a movie that I can't remember with Diane Keaton and the story takes place in Vermont. Since then, I've wanted to visit. Your photos are beautiful but I think you'd have to see it to believe it. Love it!
