tired and happy

There's a mountain in Putney, Vermont that is supposed to be a great place to watch hawks.
I've been wanting to do this ever since I read about it last Fall.
So, a couple weekends ago we headed out for this little adventure -
but - I really should have read the blurb a little more closely.
Yeah - the hawk watch is in September and October.

Oops - well
along the way, as I sat chatting with a friend in the car,
Greg spotted this barn .
You know that feeling you get when you put in a hard day's work,
and at the end of the day you're feeling tired, but also happy?
That's what this barn makes me think of -

a cheerful, tired old barn.

Oh - and the hawk watch - I'll try again in a few more weeks.
But all was not lost. Not only did I get to take these photos,
but -as it turns out Putney, Vermont also has a winery -
with wine tasting
( smile )

I am joining Tricia for Barn Charm.

  4. Well you trip was definitely not wasted....between that wonderful old red "tired" barn and the winery with tasting I would say it was a winner of a trip. You can catch those hawks next time.

  8. What I find fascinating about these old barns is the reason additions were built and why they were built like the were. I always wonder what these old guys were thinking.

  15. I'm sitting here thinking how wonderful this place would have been in its heyday. Like Red, I wonder what the additions were used for. That front part seems like a great place for some kind of studio. Sigh....
    Wine? Yes, I'll have a taste. :)
I can hardly wait to see how the hawk watching goes. Sounds like a great photo op.

  16. The barn looks like it could tell some stories. I think we went to Putney for a fall festival many years ago - great apple cider and doughnuts!
