"Away
Is a place that's easy to find
And a feeling that's impossible to forget"
GoRving.com
1) It would seem that as we were naming our getaway "Away", Go RVing was planning its new "Discover Away" ad campaign - and it pretty much captures the essence of Away.
Hmmm - yeah......
This makes me feel just a teensy bit annoyed.

2) I found a couple irises struggling behind some overgrown shrubs and transplanted them near my driveway.
I'm really glad I did.
3) My back is killing me and I don't know why.
Well... okay...
it might possibly have something to do with the pogo stick that Nearby-apartment-daughter
found in our garage.

4) Farmer's markets start this weekend.
Yep - I'm excited.

5) I'm planning to try a new recipe this weekend - blueberry baked oatmeal.
Does that sound as strange to you as it does to me?
I'll let you know.

ReplyDeleteI love irises, especially since there were a favorite of my mom. beautiful Karen.
ReplyDeleteWell darn -- they stole your thunder. It's okay -- we know who came up with the idea first. :)

ReplyDeleteBeautiful irises. I don't like cooked oatmeal but that combo sounds like a good bread to me! :)
ReplyDeleteOr cookie! :)
Hi Karen I love the Iris's. They look like someone has splattered blue ink on all their edges. They are standing proud and regal. Good luck with the oatmeal and have a great weekend. Margaret
ReplyDeleteBeautiful iris! Hope your back gets to feeling better, Karen, and have fun at the Farmer's Market.
ReplyDeleteA friend of mine makes a baked oatmeal dish; she uses mixed fresh fruit. Enjoy your cooking experiment and weekend "away."

Pogo stick!! Have never tried it. Lol. Maybe that's a new bucket list thing for me. Your irises are gorgeous. I'm glad you transplanted them too! Have a great away weekend! :)
ReplyDeleteYay! Farmers Markets! Advil is great for backs, pogo sticks, not so much. How dare GoRving! These are the prettiest irises I've ever seen! Give us a review on the blueberries, please. I love your random fives. Have a terrific weekend Away!
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen an iris in a long time - this one is a beauty!
ReplyDeletePogo stick? Seriously? You were able to stay on it long enough to hurt your back? As a child, I could never stay on one more than one bounce....and here you are in your thirties bouncing away and hurting your back????
ReplyDeleteI adore your irises....we should trade some bulbs....I'll send you some of my solid purple ones and you send me some of your white and purple ones. Deal?
Hahaha!!! Thirties - you're sweet. Turns out I'm very good on a pogo stick - too bad my back didn't think so.
DeleteYou don't look like you're even my daughter's age, which is newly 38....you hide your age very well. Now, how about that bulb trade? Not letting up on this....those are WAY too pretty!
DeleteOops - sorry, I was so busy laughing that I completely missed the part about the swap. That sounds like fun - you're set up as "no reply", so if you're reading this in email - just reply by email or email directly to awayfortheweekend@gmail.com and we can set it up.
DeleteBuwahahahhahahaha you pogo'd, lol. High five! :)
ReplyDeleteYour irises are lovely! Be careful on that pogo stick, but more power to ya if you can bounce on it without falling. LOL I've lost all sense of balance so I don't think I could do it.
ReplyDeletesorry your back is hurtin, Karen... could it be the digging up the iris but somehow I don't think that was recent. I am with you on the farmer's market. I'm going tomorrow. It's gonna be fun.
ReplyDeletePogo Sticks - They're making a Return . .
ReplyDeleteYou are ahead of the curve.
Happy Weekend,
-g-
Our iris' are long gone... I love blue berries
ReplyDeleteBeautiful irises. May your back pains go away and stay away. No go pogo. Farmer's Markets and roadside farm stands are one of my favorite things in summer. I have made baked oatmeal with apples and raisins or dried cranberries and I like it. Blueberries sound like a yummy addition. May you enjoy. Thanks for sharing on R5F ... :) Pat

#1 - view it as a compliment, it is!! i have been thinking about a houla-hoop, for backyard fun only. could be fun and it would be difficult (not impossible) to fall!!
ReplyDeleteit is so rewarding to "transplant" the sick, then watch it thrive!!
