I hope you all are well
Taking a bloggy break has left me feeling a little bit disconnected
- and a little bit energized.
So anyway - my break - it all started with business cards
- or rather, the lack of business cards.
Do you have cards for your blog? Do you use them often?
It seems as though more and more I'm running into situations where they would sure be handy.
Somehow it just seems easier than long-winded explanations of what I'm doing.
Anyway - this led to the need to do some blog updates
which led to the need to finish my photoshop class
which led to -
Sheesh - wouldn't it be great if there were more hours in a day?
Anyway - I don't know about you, but May is becoming one of my favorite months
here are my 5 reasons why
1) Flowers - Spring comes slowly to New England
but we suddenly went from mud to flowers - Yeah!
2) More daylight - no more driving to and from work in the dark. Soon, I'll be able to switch out some of those dreaded gym visits with an early morning bike ride.
(smile)
3) Evenings on the deck
4) Anticipation of Summer - sometimes anticipation is as good as the real thing...
5) Following cross-country cyclists - it's the time of year where cyclists on cross-country journeys get started. I'm usually able to find 2 or 3 on twitter that I can live vicariously through for the next 3 months. If you know of anyone making a coast-to-coast trip on their bicycle and blogging about it, I'd love to follow along.
That's it for me.
Have a wonderful day!
Flowers & May top my my list of favs too!
ReplyDeleteLOVE your flower photo (snowdrops??-won't grow here). Spring sure sounds like the perfect follow up to your long winters....
ReplyDeleteBusiness cards - I hardly use any so I printed a handful on photo card. What did you decide to do?
Oh what a great idea following cyclists I always have admired the strength and courage to do such a thing. I hope you pick up some cyclers to follow.
ReplyDeleteBusiness cards well I have been hearing a lot about this lately and I have no idea if I would hand any out my Blog is a mix of everything and I am sure I would have no need for them but on saying that someone asked me yesterday about where I write and I explained a Blog the usual questions about what is a Blog ensued and it would have been a lot easier for sure.
Happy you are back. Awesome shots. B
LOVE the updates to your blog!! And new profile pic? AWESOME!! The business cards will definitely pay off, I am using mine more and more all the time.
ReplyDeleteI rarely go off the farm and the chickens have never asked what I'm doing taking their photos... not yet anyways -- so business cards likely wouldn't be a good investment for me.
ReplyDeleteNever thought of following cyclists on Twitter -- but I'm an infrequent tweeter... my bad.
Lovely photo today Karen and I really like your new blog look. :)
lol about the chickens :D
DeleteI love what you've done with the L of the V, very nice. We are seeing more and more of the Tour de France training around the countryside plus plain old bikers...now following a biker on line that sounds very interesting. It took me over a year to get up the nerve to change my blog format, I love this all white look, and the new header..
ReplyDeleteMay is a good month indeed...but one of my busiest since I work at a college. It always flies by!! I do not have busuness cards for my blog but I have started including it in my email signature.
ReplyDeleteactually i rarely mention my blog to outsiders...i feel a little embarrassed because most people don't get it, unless they blog lol...beautiful photo and i agree, anticipation can be almost as good as the real thing! have a great weekend :)
ReplyDeleteKaren
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed your blog break. We all need to do that once in a while.
No business cards for me. The Hubby is not a fan of my blog and business cards would not go over to good.
Your picture is pretty and I like your May list. This week is the first we have seen of blooms and budding!
Photoshop is fun, hope it will improve your photo journey. May is one of the worst month here, since are amid summer heat, but being schools and college vacations time here, it’s an enjoyable month as well.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back! Your blog is looking even more fabulous than usual.
ReplyDeletelove the lily of the valley! and really like your new profile pic! such a beauty!
ReplyDeleteI have cards but never put them in my wallet. Duh!
ReplyDeleteAnd I love the evenings on the porch. Nothing like being outside in the evening. :)
I love the new look of the blog, and your profile photo is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteLily of the valley flowers are my favorites. So delicate. You took a great shot.
I don't have cards, but I've thought about it. I do have my blog address on my email signature.
I love May, too! For many of the same reasons you do! Despite my allergies, I love spring!
ReplyDeleteGreat post, great blog.
ReplyDeleteMay and September are my 2 favorite months! :). An abundance of gorgeous flowers. I agree.
ReplyDeleteLong daylight is divine. It feels as though there are so many more hours in a day, though of course, that's not true. Lol.
Have a lovely weekend!
Yep, May around here is a great month, along with October in the fall. Glad to see you back, you were missed. I do have business cards and I have used them quite a bit, in fact I need to re-order more. Just fyi, I ordered mine from MOO.com and they did an excellent job.
ReplyDeleteMay is a good month -- my birthday month! I agree with Deanna -- Moo does a fine job. I haven't thought about following cyclists. I do enjoy watching the Tour De France when it is on in the summer ... mostly (I admit) for the scenery! Have a lovely weekend!
ReplyDeleteWe are having a very nice May here as well! Love your flower shot! :)
ReplyDeleteWelcome back! I was so excited when I saw an email saying you had a new post up :) I don't have business cards for my blog, but have definitely been considering it. I'm really picky, so I think it would be hard for me to narrow down a design that I liked.
ReplyDeletePretty photo! It looks like some flowers we got from my grandma called lily of the valley. They smell so wonderful!
Love your shot of the lilly of the valley. It is just too hot here in Texas for those and they are so cute and so fragrant! Glad you enjoyed your blog break, and yes, it is nice to have those business cards. Sounds as if you are have a wonderful spring! Vermont must be so lovely during the spring!

The prayer for all peace.
Greeting.
Have a good weekend. From Japan, ruma❃
What an interesting post. Hope you have a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteOne of these days, i'm going to have to get Photo Shop ( or equivalent). It seems that there is not enough time in the day. anyway, welcome back!
ReplyDeletebusiness cards wouldn't do me any good...I don't have that many that look at my blog....mainly family and friends....I love May....I love summer...
ReplyDeleteAnticipation....you need to watch Lewis Black tell about anticipation : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RzzB_xQvXHg
ReplyDeleteHe spouts lots of four letter words, but he is really funny if you can get past them....and he is so right on about anticipation.
hi karen...i have written the name of my blog on many a piece of scrap paper. i made business cards once through the blog "how about orange" she offered a free template but i used them all up, never made more. i talk about my blog to anyone who will listen and does not run the other way ;))
ReplyDeletebeautiful image today and you blog looks great. although i must admit that i LOVED your collage header ALOT!!!
Good to see you back posting again. Your spring is like ours. Once it gets here it comes quickly as we have so many more hours of daylight.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo. I was thinking to try a shot of the lily of the valley in my backyard corner, but I know I will not come anywhere close to this. I think I take one anyway. Thanks for sharing on R5F ... :) Pat
ReplyDeleteLovely shot of the lily of the valley. May is a great time for photographing flowers.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with you as well. May is becoming one of my favorite months as well!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful details of the sweetest of flowers! It is such a lovely time of year. It is hard to explain blogging to people who don't blog or read blogs. I don't know how many times I've gotten the blank look after a long explanation! I should photograph it and put it on the blog! Have a nice weekend, Karen! xx
ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea about business cards. If I tell people that I blog, I just get a blank stare, not knowing how to reply (I posted about this one time), so maybe just handing them a card might peek their curiosity. Love those dainty bel-shaped blooms!
ReplyDeleteBuena imagen...un beso desde Murcia
ReplyDeleteHi Karen,
ReplyDeleteGlad you're back! I was gone too and I know the feeling of disconnected. For me it was I'm I ready to blog again. Almost like going back to work after a vacation. :)
Years ago bloggers I knew were getting business cards (Moo cards - photo on one side info on the other) and I wanted too but I never did.
BEAUTIFUL flower shot!
I had business cards made when I first started freelancing but I write at different sites now and am blogging. The site I started at no longer pays.
ReplyDeleteOh yes... I do have cards for my blog and have had for a few years now. It's a much nicer way of leaving someone with your info rather than just telling them and having them forget because you nor they have a scrap of paper to write it down on. I LOVE my business cards and as a matter of fact I need to re-order some! Thanks for the reminder.
ReplyDeleteDifferent styles are available here which ever you like you can make it your own only by making some variations. Free business card templates are placed here for the convenience of the people.business gifts india
ReplyDeleteI don’t see why not, especially if you’re blogging professionally. If your blog is tied up with your business, then you should definitely put it in your card as a reference to what goes on and updates about your business.
