You may remember that a couple weeks ago I took you on a bike ride through rural Vermont.
There was so much to see on this ride that I never rode far before I was compelled to stop for yet one more photo.
This was one of my favorite photo stops
So -
I'm coming around the corner when
screech - imagine for a moment that bikes make that screeching sound when you stop short
a little closer
and one last shot before Greg looses his patience with all this stopping
I'm really not sure what it is about American Gothic - I just can't help gawking gazing at it - and it looks right at home on the side of this barn!

I love it! Of course you came to a screeching halt when you saw this barn! Wonderful photos!
ReplyDeleteI would have come to a screeching halt too! This is a great find. I love American Gothic as well,
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful! Someone was very creative to copy this wonderful painting on the side of their barn. I just love it! And, thank you so much for coming by my blog to see my barn!
ReplyDeleteThis is a neat barn! Glad you got a good shot of it and shared it with us!!
ReplyDeleteThat is so neat. I would have come to a screeching halt too. I really like the last photo.
ReplyDeleteI think you're going to get the prize for originality this week. What a find! We have lots of barn quilts in KY and a few murals like a blue thoroughbred, but nothing like this copy of an American classic. Keep your eyes peeled for a Norman Rockwell!
ReplyDeleteBeatuful barn,I love that!

Glad you stopped...this is sooooo cool!!!
ReplyDeleteSomeone posted a that pic on the side of another barn somewhere, but I can't remember where... they told the story of them, too... something about the woman being the sister of a big business owner... I read things, but I never retain the information... I blame it on early Alzheimer's, it runs in the family, so I'm probably very right! LoL!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots & thanks so much for joining =)
Yes - I wondered if painting this on a barn was more common than I realized, so I googled it and found a really awesome barn that had this painting on it. It's in Iowa near Cedar Rapids.
DeleteSuper cute!!! Kelsey from KeepingUpWithKelsey
ReplyDeleteI just came back to show the link for the barn & painting I was talking about & read your reply... here it is, anyway... I can't believe I remembered where I saw it, my memory is very bad for my age! LoL! =)

Yes - that is exactly the one I found through Google. I missed it on this barn hop, though - (away on vacation without internet). Thanks for the follow-up, the painting on this one is outstanding!
DeleteWhat a great photo, and a wonderful barn!
ReplyDeleteOh now, that is one fantastic barn find!
ReplyDeleteI would love to have this painted on our barn!
ReplyDeleteGrant Wood is my all-time favorite painter and this is awesome!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great find!
ReplyDeleteI agree! what a wonderful find! Thanks for visiting my blog!
ReplyDeleteBarns are just perfectly becoming an ideal subject to photography, well, who won't be tamed to pause and give shots to all those attractive barns that are rarely seen on countrysides only. You've just sure made a great stop on taking photos of this American gothic barn that sure looks pretty cool.
