After the last few days of disgustingly sticky weather, last weekend's apple picking at Green Mountain Orchards seems like a distant memory.
I made my first batch of soap, and it's looking pretty fantastic
- except -
in my attempt to save the environment for the orangutans, I accidentally ordered sustainable palm fruit oil which is bright red-orange. Yep, my soap is looking a bit like pumpkin pie.
On the upside, according to Dr. Oz, red palm oil is a "miracle solution" - "an amazing fat that helps stop the signs of aging inside and out". Well - yippee for miracles because I have enough of this stuff to halt the aging of an entire village.
This morning my bus failed to show up, leaving me standing in the rain for 30 minutes to wait for the next one. All the while I'm thinking to myself - really? I gave up driving to work in the comfort of my own car for this?
Why is it that the auto-correct on my iPhone makes all sorts of random "corrections" that I don't want, yet completely misses the obvious mistakes? I sure do spend a lot of time correcting auto-correct.
Have a great weekend!
Yes, autocorrect is a huge problem!
ReplyDeleteI think orange soap is such an autumn-y idea, it would make a great gift.
Lovely Photo!
ReplyDeleteGreetings, RW & SK
Pumpkin pie soap - I like it :)
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful and hopefully cooler weekend Karen!
I make my own soap too Karen and find that as long as it does what it's supposed to do, looks don't matter much. :) I hope you show us the final product sometime.
ReplyDeletethanks for the laughs! let me know if that magical soap reverses aging! :)
ReplyDeleteOh you just made my day. I'm with T, let us know if it works :)
ReplyDeleteI have been thinking of making my own soap, and I keep seeing references to soapmaking in bloggyland. I think I'm getting a sign. But if yours does have a magical quality of reversing signs of aging--I'll buy some of yours. :-)
ReplyDeleteLovely photo--that orchard looks wonderful!
Ha ha you definitely made me laugh with that soap.
ReplyDeleteI think I should try some.
Orange soap - perfect for fall (esp if it erases old age!). I hate the auto correct - would rather it just tell me when I misspell. I wonder if you can turn it off - definitely need the spell-check though! Those apple trees are little!
ReplyDeleteipads do that correction not correction thing too; why was that bus not there and I read soup not soap so had blah blah'd on olive oil, silly me, does your soap turn your skin orange?
ReplyDeletehehe, auto correct can get you in big trouble, it certainly has a mind of its own!!
ReplyDeleteI think orange soap is perfect for fall but hey girl, I warned you about making soap. ;)
Hey ... I'll take some of that miracle stuff off your hands, if you'd like! :-D And I'm right there with you on the auto-correct.
ReplyDeleteI will take as much off your hands as you like. Since we've been talking about staying 50 maybe this is our answer; you do remember the receipt don't you in case we run out...we don't want to all of a sudden look 100.
ReplyDeleteThis correct issue is very frustrating but not sure what to do about it....
Totally agree about that auto-correct, generally it is totally worthless. You need to post a picture of your soap :) Anti-aging? I can certainly use that!
ReplyDeleteLOL, I want some of that soap! Wonder if it gets rid of grey hair?? I spend a lot of time correcting my auto correct too. Or I hit send and oops! have to correct my phone's auto-correct. sigh. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI think I need some of your soap!! You are truly dedicated to give up your comfortable car, to stand on a corner, wait in the pouring rain, get on a crowded bus and turn around and do it again 8 yours later. Kudos to you!!
ReplyDeleteLove homemade soap, interesting color and first I hear of this miracle solution. My iPad drives me nuts with the auto correct. That is a pretty scene.
ReplyDeleteYour photo looks so inviting. What a wonderful place you live in! We're going to the mountains for apple picking this weekend. Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteI could use some of that soap! Does it smell like pumpkin pie too?
ReplyDeletePumpkin saop. sounds good if it stops aging. Hope it does not turn you orange!! Have a great weekend Judy.
ReplyDeleteI love those natural bunch of apples... it’s not always fun standing in the rain right? :) Whether it works or not but the miracle soap sounds fun!
ReplyDeleteOoooh pretty photo of the apples! It has been really hot around here but now it is cooling down a bit. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
ReplyDeleteI love your photo! I am partial to farms, barns and apple trees. Not something I get to see very often. Tell us more about the miracle potion..lol!
ReplyDeleteAuto correct drives me nuts!
ReplyDeleteauto correct cracks me up sometimes! yay on the soap, how fun and bummer you got caught in the rain :(
ReplyDeleteGood thing it's the perfect time of year for pumpkin-colored soap! :)
ReplyDeleteMy husband was giddy when he found a way to disarm auto correct. ;)
a "miracle solution" - "an amazing fat that helps stop the signs of aging inside and out". Well now that sounds wonderful to me:) Auto correct is a dumb thing I have sent so many strange messages to people they think I am weird, maybe that is not the auto correct:) Sorry you got wet:) B
ReplyDeleteMaking soap? I'm impressed! :)
ReplyDeletePumpkin colored is perfect for fall.
I hate auto correct. If you don't catch it sometimes you end up sending weird messages. :)
Your soap making is fascinating to me (whatever the color).
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the auto-correct feature on phones. I have sent a few brow-raising messages, followed immediately with the correct one, so I find it causes a lot of work for me(having to retype messages or at least words)...haha!!
Ok I am losing it! I swear I read this post and commented on it yesterday. LOL! I would love to have a miracle solution! I fight with auto-correct every day.. It is dumber than I am.
