So, I admit - I'm beginning to find the city a bit tiresome
- it's probably an age thing... shhhhh
- but -
some days, I really enjoy getting out for a lunchtime walk, and I find all that urban energy
well - ummm - energizing.
No city loves baseball quite like Boston does.

And since my office is a hop, skip, and a jump from Fenway Park,
I hopped on over to join the excitement of opening day.
There are quiet areas, too - but is it just me,
or does this tree make things look a bit creepy?
hmmm - I'm going to have to revisit in the summer...
And then - through a tall iron fence,
I spied this mural in a parking lot near Symphony Hall.
Pretty sure that's Seiji Ozawa staring me down.
How about you - city, country, or a little of both?

Your photos show that cities offer a variety.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of Boston…I am trying to convince Glen to go there for our vacation this year. I am thinking early October. So I would love recommendations of things to see, photograph while we are there. We are planning on flying, he has a travel voucher he needs to use before November, and staying in the city, no car rental. So lots of walking and public transportation.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I do love Boston, I much prefer the quiet of the country. The photos are great and although I do love quiet, I visit to Fenway at least once a year is a MUST:)
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos! I went to Fenway Park years ago to see a double header when I was new to these shores. It was all very exciting!
ReplyDeleteAs you know, mostly country -- I enjoy a baseball game or two on tv this time of year. :)
ReplyDeleteLots to do in Boston. We've enjoyed a little of both. Now we have the city house up for sale now so we can move to our property in the country.
ReplyDeleteAfter living in a largely rural area the past 10+ years, we're ready to relocate someplace closer to a metropolitan area without being right in a city. So it would be a little of both for myself. Since we are considering NH, I'm looking forward to getting into Boston for day trips...Fenway might be on the list too.
ReplyDeleteNice walk. Really like the mural behind the fence. I went on a baseball vacation a few years back. Fenway and the green monster were standouts. I like a bit of both country and city. I moved after 30 years in Dallas to the village in middle-of-nowhere Illinois where I grew up. There isn't a day goes by I don't miss something about the city and there isn't a day goes by I don't miss the traffic. I would rather live out in the country on a farm. Wish I had bought a house there instead of in town.
ReplyDeleteOh Karen I LOVE a little of both and you make me want to run and surround myself with the hustle and bustle for at least a little while. Love the mural and the fence and the creepy tree:) Hug B
ReplyDeleteBoston is such a super city for roaming on foot.
ReplyDeleteHi Karen, I'm over from Theresa's Good Fences. I like the country areas best - cities are good for visiting the children and shopping though :D)
ReplyDeletewonderful mix of boston culture! great mural, great park, great baseball! :) thanks for linking in to good fences!
ReplyDeleteCounty girl now all the way ~
ReplyDeletebut I do love the occasional city visit and Boston is a great City .
Loved the photos , cool tree actually !
A fun post! I like what you saw through the fence! :)
ReplyDeleteI like the shot over the water. I am not a city girl, nor am I a country girl. Somewhere in between I guess.
ReplyDeleteHI Well spotted through the fence in the last shot. Very interesting.
ReplyDeleteDef a little bit of both!! I enjoy a little action, I don't want to drive two hours to go food shopping!! Where I live, I have a good balance of both!!
ReplyDeleteand I like the mural.....I get distracted ;)
ReplyDeletei love the country...i like where i live now, a little rural but 10 minutes to the store, then roanoke is only about 20 minutes out. i love the size of roanoke, very easy to maneuver around. i think it would be fun to have an apartment in a big city, like boston, ny, or chicago for weekend jaunts! haven't been to boston yet but plan to eventually!
ReplyDeleteoh and our minor league team is also the red sox ;)
ReplyDeleteCountry all the way! I go further than country as I like to be completely alone in the country.
ReplyDeleteI'm a country girl but like to see the cities in photos such as these. The tall iron fence picture is interesting.
ReplyDeleteI've never been to Boston but hope to change that - looks like there is lots to wander about and see!
ReplyDeleteWonderful series of images, I have never been to Boston. Thanks for taking me along. Have a happy day and weekend ahead!
ReplyDeleteGreat series of shots! I like smaller communities.
ReplyDeleteOh I lean towards country but having grown up near city I get drawn to that at times. It looks like a beautiful day for opening day.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful scenes of one of my favorite cities! That old tree has some character! Although I love to visit the city, I have never lived in one. I think it might be wonderful to have so much culture at your doorstep, and of course, Baseball! xo Karen
ReplyDeleteIt's country all the way for me...but it's nice to be close enough to the city to go see the Phillies or Eagles place once in a while! :)
ReplyDeleteVery cool looking mural behind that fence - a great find.
ReplyDeleteOh I also loved the gnarly looking tree shot, not creepy at all.
Hi Karen, thanks for sharing your fun walking tour! It is probably the closest I will ever get to seeing Boston. I am such a hay seed, it absolutely terrifies me to think of trying to drive in a city that size. As for baseball, when my son played I was caught more than once clapping for the wrong team - DERP :)
ReplyDeleteI actually think Boston is an awesome place... but I am like you and definitely need balance. A little city mixed with alot of country. I do think that tree needs some leaves though.
ReplyDeleteNice post! Like you, city during the week (work requires it) but country (or in my case, desert) on the weekends. I enjoy the change of pace and scenery.
ReplyDeleteI'm country 100%. Even though I only live about 30 minutes south of Boston, I dread going into the city. It's too much hustle and bustle, and it becomes overwhelming. Looking at these photos makes me crave a day in the city though!
ReplyDeleteA little of both.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a little of both, and I DO love Boston.
