five on friday - random, rambling thoughts

Random thoughts from a cluttered mind

I've been in a bit of a funk this week with random thoughts cluttering my mind.

1)      I found these photos in my archive - I never realized that I like sculpture - but, yep, I sure do.
(Not to mention that, right now, I kind of feel like I can relate to this guy.)

2) And then, speaking of art, I've been diligently working on my photography. I've had more than a few discouraging moments - you know the kind that make you want to give it up. But then -
I really do enjoy it -
a lot.

3) And this makes me think of some other things I enjoy Lately, I've been reading more than usual. I don't watch much television, and with all the campaign ads on, I was watching even less - and - we've found we don't miss it. Not even a little bit. I look forward to unwinding at the end of the day with a book.

4) And while I'm thinking about things I look forward to, the holidays are coming up - which means Chicago daughter is headed home for a week, and nearby apartment daughter will be staying at home, too (with the cat).

5) And finally, as my cluttered brain ponders all of this, I think maybe, just maybe, my funk is beginning to lift.

I'm wishing you all a really great weekend!

I am joining Reflection of You for Five on Friday

Thanks for dropping in!

  4. Definitely don't give up on the photography it is a slow learning curve, but the more you do it the better you get. This year has been HUGE for me in improving and learning mainly because I finally took the time to devote to it. I LOVE it more and more each day.

  7. My theory about funks: They're a necessary step to fresh bursts of creativity. So hang in there!! :-D

  8. I love your honest post - your photos here are lovely, so I sure hope you'll continue! But I completely understand the frustration of the learning curve. I'm glad your funk is lifting...sometimes we just to have wait them out. Have a wonderful weekend. :)

  9. Hope your funk fully lifts this weekend! I definitely find that I go through cycles over the course of a month. Some up days, some down days. Sometimes down weeks. But it always gets better :) Just do more of what you love every day.

I agree that photography can be frustrating. I have a new camera and I'm trying to learn all the settings. I always have an idea in my mind of how I want a photo to look, but many times I can't get the settings just right to capture it how I want. I put the camera down for a few days, but then I start back up and take a great shot that I love and then it starts all over again!

  13. I can totally relate to too much brain clutter. Unfortunately for me, I have started watching tv (which is really all my 5 on Friday is about) opposite your quitting. I've been trying to do more with the kids, and I'm limited these days, so it's nice to watch some family shows rather than them in front of the t.v. and me in my room on the computer. I love the images you chose for your 5 on Friday!

  14. I love your sculptures! Funny how sometimes looking back through a few months worth of pictures can tell you something about yourself that you didn't quite notice....Great job on this challenge.
