barn charm - off the beaten path

We had no plans for Saturday -
other than running a few errands - and a trip to Orvis.
(Winter is quickly making its way to Vermont - time for a warm work shirt!)

We decided to make an afternoon of it, and take a ride off the beaten path.
(You know you're leading an exciting life when you plan your afternoon around a trip to Orvis...)

But -
I'm glad we did!
We found this beautiful farm in Landgrove, Vermont.

This barn is such a vibrant red - and the chickens out back added some color of their own.

There were a few tiny wet flakes flying around this weekend.
And I'm busily crocheting a warm throw that I hope to share in another week or two.

I'm joining Tricia at Bluff Area Daily for this week's

Thanks for dropping in!

  4. Oh, I have got its twin from another lifetime....I will try to post it next week if I can remember. Mine is old and starting to deteriorate...but I think you will see the resemblance.

  5. Wow! A beautiful red barn in lovely surroundings! Love the stone retaining walls. I imagine that stone was found right there on the farm too.
The chickens seem to have their own cozy little barn as well.

  6. Interesting structure! If there are photo ops, I can easily plan an afternoon around even a brief jaunt down a country road.

  14. It's stunning! I'm reading a barn book right now, it identifies different styles of barns. It said the overhang is usually a German style. I haven't seen one with the overhang so this is super exciting to me!

  20. I love the red barn with the chickens in the background. It just looks like Vermont! Can't wait to see your throw! I tried to get into crocheting the past couple years but it's just not my thing. I do love it when people crochet things for me, though :)

Thanks for stopping by my blog :)
