Last Saturday was the annual Spring Fling at Bromley mountain -
it didn't feel much like Spring
- but the Fling was definitely on!
After a lazy morning and a late start, Greg and I decided to forgo the skiing -
and join in the fun with some barbecue and beer near the fire pit.
(Yeah - he pretends to be texting - but I saw the photo on Facebook...)
(Yeah - he pretends to be texting - but I saw the photo on Facebook...)
Costumes not required - but much more fun!
There were lots of events - the crowd favorite -
Pond Skimming
yep, skiing across a pond
decked out for Spring regardless of what Mother Nature says
The lucky few who made it across
and those not quite so lucky
brrrrrrrrrr!!!
There was much excitement when Sponge Bob skied down the hill
good thing he lives in a pineapple under the sea...
Yipee - unicorns! Good luck x 4!
This was a great family day
with one of our favorite families!
So - this is what Spring looks like in northern New England
Yeah - we'll have sun and flowers, too - eventually - in a few days weeks months or so...
How do you celebrate Spring in your neck of the woods?
Karen your photos put many smiles on my face. The way winter is hanging on I really needed them. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI like the creative ways Northerners find to beat the winter blues. I remember the various winter festivals and follies in upstate NY and they were always fun. Spring and winter are still duking it out down here- spring is rather late this year. I like the smell of the wet earth. That's my favorite spring ritual, to go outside and breath deeply.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like an incredibly fun time. I want to do some of that fun skiing - though I wouldn't want to pictorial evidence to ever surface LOL
ReplyDeleteKaren,
ReplyDeleteLooks like Spring Fling is a fun way to welcome spring.
Hi Karen. Glad you can keep your spirits up with winter handing on but everyone seemed to enter into the fun of the occasion.
ReplyDeleteHow fun - a long winter can make everyone a little nutty :-)
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday!
what a blast! bunch of crazies in your neck of the woods!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a very fun celebration, but don't count me in on that pond skimming....yikes!!
ReplyDeletei love Spong Bob - that is too great!! so funny. i hope they can see through those eyes or it could be a scary run. ha. ha!! ( :
ReplyDeleteIt looked like fun was had by all.
ReplyDeleteSpring in New England is fantastic no reason to hurry it along:) Great shots. Hug B
ReplyDeleteLoved the pics . . . looks like a fun weekend . . .
ReplyDeleteooohhhh this looks like so much fun!! and lot's of "colorful" outfits!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to celebrate Spring!!! I am watching TWC and hoping the storm doesn't share that much with us...vacation is almost here!...:)JP
ReplyDeleteEven if spring has not arrived, this looked like a fun time anyway. As far as I know there are no special celebrations in these parts for spring's arrival, unless you count the manure being spread on fields and discing them for planting.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun celebration! Love the pond skimmers and Sponge Bob.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun day! I loved the costumes especially spongebob! Hahaha, how cute :) Sounds like an incredibly fun place to be!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots. Looks like a great day of fun. Nice shot of Greg :) No Spring here yet either, but we did get a fresh coating of snow overnight.
ReplyDeleteLooks like crazy fun there in your neck of the woods! Love all the costumes and fun events. (You have a handsome hubby, by the way :) Good thing there was a nice warm bonfire and good food - it looks very cold! xo Karen
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun day! You guys know how to do COLD really well!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots and share Karen.
ReplyDeleteI have to admit I got cold just looking at them doing that ! lol
It has been such a gosh awful winter in these parts that everyone around here is celebrating spring (if you can call it that) by taking down their Christmas decorations ;)
ReplyDeleteLooks like a lot of fun. Here it looks like we might miss spring and jump straight into summer....:(
ReplyDeleteAWESOME photographs, Karen! Such energy and color. I loved seeing your spring fling. (And very cute husband, by the way!)
ReplyDeleteNot your average spring fling, but what fun! You got some great photos too!
ReplyDeleteAwesome photos---looks like such fun!! We are still battling below zero temperatures. We had a lovely blanket of fresh fallen snow waiting for us this morning when we got up---bbbrrrrrr--come on spring!!!! Please!!!!!! ha ha
