Hello, again!
I never really intended for my break to last this long
- which got me thinking about the "break" I took from Facebook more than a year ago...
- and returning to my blog was beginning to feel like Now or Never
Well then, Now it is (for blogging, anyway - Facebook, yeah, probably not)
Well then, Now it is (for blogging, anyway - Facebook, yeah, probably not)
All is well.
I wish I could say that I accomplished something fantastic or amazing during my time away,
but - well - I can't
(and I didn't)
So - to get back into the swing of things, I am joining Nancy at A Rural Journal for a little random fun.
1) First off - thanks so much to those of you who sent me messages during my break! I can't begin to tell you how much it means to me. You're the reason that "never" won't work for me!
I missed you!
2) Chicago-daughter moved back to Boston over the holidays.
Definitely not hating that!
:-)
3) My switch to public transportation did not go well.
- abhor, detest, despise, lothe...
- all accurate words to describe the way I felt about my daily
hurry-up-and-wait, freezing-suffocating, squashed, noisy, motion-sickness experience that took me to and from work each day. Time to rejoin the crowded highway.
4) I love winter
- but I'm glad it's not any longer than it is -
5) The other day I was on Pinterest and actually thought "ho hum..."
What?!?!?!?!
That's it for me this week - have a wonderful weekend!
Guess I am meeting you at the perfect time! You were "on break" and now you are back. A comment to me through the Random 5 and we meet. Yay . . . What a Womderful World.
ReplyDeleteLove your Jay sitting and looking about . . .
Nice to meet you ... and lovely to see this fine feathered friend perched atop his home!
ReplyDelete;-}
...even tho I'm now retired, your 3rd random...I don't think I'd ever attempt public transportation. I like my car all too well...yep, I'm one of those that add to air pollution. I'd much prefer my car than a bus, a cab, a fast rail...anything. LOL
ReplyDeleteAnd...you can enjoy your winter. I'll take Spring. LOL
Welcome back - at least January is over - I always feel better about winter in Februry for some reason :-)
ReplyDeleteSo so glad that you're back. We truly missed you and your Vermont photos :)
ReplyDeleteOh you have been missed but I knew you would be back because family always comes back:)
ReplyDeleteThat commute sounds nasty like on the Big Bang did you have to wear "Bus Pants"?:)
Oh good news about your daughter I do know how nice that would feel. Hug B
Karen, Welcome back! Good for your daughter.I don't like public transportation ... sardines in a can, but I do know the day is coming when I have to "like" it! UGH. HO-Hum to Pinterest?!!!! Good thing I'm sitting down! ;)
ReplyDeleteWell Hallelujah your back!!! I have missed you terribly. Doesn't sound like you were any happier riding that public transport system. I am sure it is wonderful to have your daughter back closer to home. I have been feeling the same way about Pinterest. What does that mean?
ReplyDeleteI was so excited to see you in my sidebar this morning...Welcome home...I have missed you so much....So glad your daughter is back in Boston...sorry the public transportation didn't work but hey we try things and some times they work and sometimes they don't....Just glad you're back...
ReplyDeleteHi, so glad to see you back! I don't spend very much time on Pinterest anymore. Have a great day! Twyla
ReplyDeleteIt had been over two months since you last posting I thought you had lost your way and no more weekends were going to be posted. So just this morning I deleted you blog from my "Blogs I Follow" list in the sidebar. I have fixed that and you are back in my good books. I enjoy you photography and am glad to see you back at it again. Keep on clicking.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back Karen!
ReplyDeleteI hear ya on Facebook. I am getting fed up with it too.
I was on Pinterest for a while and thought the same thing. After trying several "viral" recipes that didn't turn out, tasted plain or simply flopped I quit visiting. I haven't been on Pinterest for 14 months and don't really think I am missing out.
Here's to a good weekend!
Public Transit??? yep, you describe it really well.
ReplyDeleteI really like your photo . . .
SO good to see you post again! when you'd pop in, i'd think, 'hey, she hasn't posted in forever!' so glad you didn't say never. :)
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you back, Karen! I've missed you. Good news about your daughter moving back to Boston. The public transportation sounds awful. Let's hope February is a better month than January.
ReplyDeleteI know you must be enjoying that daughter living closer. We do miss them when they are away. and worry, too.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're back, Karen! I've missed you. That's good news about your daughter. It must be so nice to have her nearby again. The public transportation sounds frustrating. At least you tried it and know what it's like. Happy Friday!
ReplyDeleteWhat a terrific shot of the Jay! How nice to have your daughter back, mine lives two blocks away, and I love it!
ReplyDeleteI love your shot of the bluejay and feeder! We just lost our youngest daughter (again) to Florida so she's now 18 hours away. Happy yours is closer to you now. Not sure I'd want to try public transportation based on your description!!
ReplyDeleteVisiting from R5F
Great shot of the bluejay! I've got some birds, including a bluejay, in my R5F post today, too.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't like public transportation at all, not that we have it in our small town. But, I love getting
in my car and going when and where I like.
Have a nice weekend!
So glad to have you back, Karen!
ReplyDeleteso glad you are back, Karen!! i have missed ya. hope you are well & glad to be back bloggy-ing away!! ( :
ReplyDeletecan't wait to see what you have been snapping away on or with. big big hugs.
Glad you're back, Karen. I prefer my blog to Facebook too, though I do occasionally post on FB.
ReplyDeleteLucky me! I just found your blog last night and enjoyed going thru your posts backwards, decided to finish up this morning and lo and behold, a fresh new post from you! I love Vermont and have visited twice, so will be sure and follow your blog as it will probably be some time before I get back to your beautiful area. So glad to have found you! Teresa at cottagelodge.net
ReplyDeleteWell, welcome back!
ReplyDeleteSometimes a "break" is necessary to get the creative juices flowing again.
Sometimes I yawn through Pinterest too. LOL
Have a great weekend.

Finding your blog for the 1st time now and becoming a follower. I love your photos.
ReplyDeleteSo welcome back to the blogging world. It will be great getting to know more about you.
FB is okay but I much prefer blogging.
I'm so glad to see you back!!! I was hoping you'd begin posting again soon :)
ReplyDeleteI don't think I could do public transportation on a daily basis. I need my personal space and am a touch claustrophobic, so I don't think it would work for me!
I actually do better when I blog...but when I miss two or three days it is so hard to start again. Because I feel behind. I don't visit a super lot of blogs, but those bloggers I usually go back and see each post I have missed. Comment on a lot of them...sometimes all of them. There are some that are like letting light into a dark room...usually give me something to chuckle out and sometimes laugh till I cry.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back! I've missed your posts!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back Karen . I have the same reaction on pin interest :) haha. Hope you are having a great weekend !
ReplyDeleteIt's good to see you back posting again.
ReplyDeleteoh i am so very happy you are back!! and yay for chicago daughter being nearby!! now don't be a stranger!!
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you back on the blog, welcome back!
ReplyDeleteLovely capture on the bird atop snow! Hope it was wonderful back in blog :)
ReplyDeleteWelcome back Karen -- so glad to see you again. I have missed you. :)
ReplyDeleteYep, Facebook and Pinterest... have also not been on my radar lately.
Yay for daughter moving closer to home. Have a lovely weekend and thanks for making R5F a part of your return to blogging. xo
Hi Karen, just when I was going to join the others who have sent an email, your new post appeared. I knew there was a reason, that I kept checking for an update. Yes, you were missed in the blog world and can understand that breaks are necessary to get going again. No facebook or pinterest or any other social media for me, and NO to google+ as well, it's just all about blogging. Never used mass transit for work commuting because all my jobs required driving to the locations with no trains or buses available, and it's just as well too.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back! Your photo of the little bird on his snowy roof is delightful! And how wonderful that your daughter moved back. My daughter is moving from being only 2 hours away to several states away next month. So sad!!! I'm addicted to FB but have never gotten into Pinterest, except to pin possible mother-of-the-bride dresses. Such fun! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteYour blue jay on the snowy roof is beautiful! We may get a little snow here this week. That will be a camera day for sure! I know your thrilled to have your daughter close to you. My son lives 30 minutes away, but my daughter lives over three hours. Not really so bad, it could be worse! Glad to see your return to blogland!
ReplyDeletei am so happy to see an entry from you!! your jay is so pretty, sitting in the snow!!
ReplyDeletei thought you would share stats on all the soap you made while you were mia, but then i remembered they sell it in stores ;)
i LOVE pinterest and facebook, there i said it :)))))
Oh yea, you are back...well glad for you that your daughter moved to Boston, sad for me, because now our chances of meeting are slim to none.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Love love, Andrew. Bye.
ReplyDeleteI was so excited to see this post! I was truly beginning to worry! Glad it was just a little break - love the photo. How wonderful to have your daughter back. I can just imagine how happy you must be. My son took public transportation for a year in college (bus and train) and saw some awful things and all I did was worry about him. Glad you are back! xo Karen
ReplyDeleteHi Karen, so happy to see you back, even if you post less often, it's still a treat to see your photos etc. Great your daughter is back in the area.
ReplyDeleteHi Karen! I've missed you - I'm glad you're back! Funny how we outgrow some things...I'm hardly on fb anymore and Pinterest isn't what it used to be - I like it when I need ideas for something but otherwise not on it much either.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to your gorgeous photos! Enjoy having your daughter close by again!
So glad for you that your daughter moved back home! one of my daughters moved to canada, and finally came back to Texas after 4 years. Was so glad to have her back when she came! Glad that you came back from your blogging break. I do think you just need to take a break from this at times, but like you said, you do miss your blog friends . Hope your break was nice, and welcome back!
