So - this week it was back to work, again -
and while I'm slow to get back into the swing of things,
it only took one commute into the city to pretty much wipe out a week of r & r...
Ahhhh well - it is what it is...
My backlog of photos is starting to stress me out,
so for this week's five, I am sharing random images from my random week.
Greg and Chicago-daughter - taking a short pause during a hike.
We met up with these Appalachian Trail thru hikers at the top of Bromley mountain.
They were high as a kite, but I do admire their moxie.
Massachusetts lighthouse in my mom's seaside town.
I'm calling this awkward cutie "Woodrina"
Okay - yeah, I welcome suggestions...
Jamaica, Vermont Old Home Day celebration.
So that was my week in a nutshell.
I hope you're enjoying a little summer down-time, as well.
Have a great weekend!
Nice mixture of random photos. Keep on clicking.
ReplyDeleteYour Home Day celebration reminds me of my hometown's Old Soldier's Day, which is this coming weekend but we are too far away to attend. As a kid, I love to watch the bands, clowns, and beauty pageant contestants.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a relaxing weekend.
These are super, I think your little Woodrina looks like Zorro-the moxie hikers photos is too funny- beautiful area around you, and I have always wanted to see Massachusetts (as difficult to spell as it is to say)-
ReplyDeleteLove the lighthouse and also the woodpecker! Is that a pileated woodpecker??
ReplyDeleteYour pictures, once again, made me smile - especially Woodrina:)
ReplyDeletei love the lighthouse. they always steal my heart. the woodpecker is so pretty. vacations go so quickly. i hope you will get a moment to relax over the weekend. big big hugs. ( :
ReplyDeleteOh I think your week was incredible I love every photo and I am sure there are more:)
ReplyDeleteToo bad back to work but you have incredible memories to get you through:) B
Great photos. Hooray for some down time.
ReplyDeleteThat lighthouse is gorgeous! Enjoy your weekend, Karen!
ReplyDeleteI think some randomness implies your not in a rut. That's good but then so is "down time." Unless it due to crashing and burning on your bike like I did recently....
ReplyDeleteKaren,
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed your vacation.
Love the lighthouse picture!
Ranch Wife Robyn
You had a wonderful week. Love the lighthouse shot. Something about lighthouses being romantic! The Home Day celebration looks life fun. All your photos told a story. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteSure looks like you had a great time away. A change of pace and time with our family is always refreshing....
ReplyDeleteI would definitely have to be high as a kite to think I could even begin to hike the Appalachian Trail. LOL
ReplyDeleteWow! What beautiful photos! Looks and sounds like you had a great week. Going back to work is always difficult, i think!
ReplyDeletewoodrina is a cute little hairy woodpecker! :) the puppet? is interesting.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you have been having fun - pretty scenery on the hike :-)
ReplyDeleteLove your random shots! I had to laugh at the hikers you met - too funny!
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos!
ReplyDeleteLove your photos! I think thru hiking would be so fun! Maybe one day. :)
ReplyDeleteFun! Why is it it takes nothing to stress us back out? It's good to have that escape!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a grand 'random week' and I love your header!
ReplyDeleteI'm laughing about your encounter with the high flying hikers...you have to wonder about folks sometimes... glad you had a fun getaway!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a fun, full week! Great shots, especially Woodrina, which I like, and the lighthouse!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos. I love the parade - heartwarming!
ReplyDeleteLoved the photos and your hikers were probably here shopping at my kroger for munchies not too long ago! They all stop at kroger which is right off the trail!
ReplyDeleteFabulous Random 5 photos! Sorry your vacation is over! :-( Back to school, right?
ReplyDeleteThose hikers made me laugh!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you had a wonderful week, especially with Chicago daughter at home...love that bird shot..don't ya wonder about the high hikers...aren't they afraid of a misstep??
ReplyDeleteWonderful week! The hikers are funny! My favorite shot is the lighthouse. I always love lighthouses. Hope your re-entry into the real world is going OK!
ReplyDeleteLove the weekend photos Karen. I'm really sorry but Woodrina is just about the most perfect name for that little cutie, and, besides, once you name something it sticks, doesn't it? That's why I suspect I would never name farm animals for food. Scratch that, I would name them and become vegetarian...lol! I was showing Robert your post and that photo of that beautiful iconic East Coast lighthouse. We're in England at the moment and he's never been to the East Coast of America and so I've mentally decided we have to go see it together. :) Soon.
ReplyDeleteI love that lighthouse! Does it have a copper top?
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun week! But, back to reality. I hate that for you.
ReplyDeleteThe moxie hikers look like a fun group. Just sayin. :)
ReplyDeleteLovely random shot… loved the mid three! The hiking seems breathtaking. Hope you had great time with family :)
ReplyDeleteHa! Love the shot of the hikers. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd that lighthouse - gorgeous!
Great weekend Karen. That hiking looks beautiful.
ReplyDeleteSorry I'm just reading this now. I've gotten behind. Great photos! I would love to have the moxie to attempt the Appalachian Trail, but alas, I have never even been camping! LOL It wouldn't be a good match, probably. Love the shot of the bird--very striking with the flowers.
ReplyDeleteBeen catching up on photos of your vacation and down time, bummer having to return to work after such fun times. We have been to several of the places you posted about. the Gorge was simply amazing.
ReplyDeleteIt's a hairy woodpecker, because of the longer snout ;)
ReplyDeleteThey look just like the downy but the downys snout is shorter!!
Work does get in the way of having fun, doesn't it!!
I know exactly what you mean about pictures bogging you down. My husband says "This is stress you create for yourself." True. Point taken.
ReplyDeleteYou always have the most beautiful shots and I love reading your words.
These are great, and I love the bird!
ReplyDeleteYour picture reminded me that I cried when the old veterans showed up at the parade on Memorial Day. After the parade they were being helped off of their float and into the truck that would take them back to the nursing home.
Old age is making me so soft!!
lovely random shots these are, and yes it is shocking to go back to work . It definitely can quickly erase a week of relaxation.
ReplyDeleteKaren. I enjoy your photos and descriptions so much. If we were next to each other, you'd hear all my comments on every single one, and I just know we'd laugh at some and be serious about some, and you know, all that. I have a dialogue going on in my head with you! I just love your blog and how you see things. Thanks so much for sharing it all.
